My purpose as an artist is to call attention to subjects I find underrepresented in our culture. Scientific understanding seems to work so far outside of our culture that it’s members no longer recognize the contribution of science to economic success or even the creature comforts we have become accustomed to. The trend to scientific illiteracy follows along with artistic illiteracy and the push to defund education as a whole.
My purpose as an artist leads me to my current goal in teaching art. Through the practice of art a student can imagine what is possible.
We have done so much and continue to do even greater things.
5047 new planets (as of the writing of this statement) have been discovered, Geo-Synchronous orbit is so full of satellites that communications companies have to pay rent, the Large Hadron Collider may produce evidence of multiple universes, and so on. It is an amazing time to be alive and I want to show people how lucky we all are to be a part of this history in the making.
